29er bikes can present issues, as the size of the wheels exclude some bike racks from being suitable. As these carriers quite often have frame-mounted suspension and/or disc brakes, selecting the right rack to ensure your bike is not damaged and is safely secured is a little trickier than a standard bike.
On the Roof
If you're carrying the bike on your roof racks then something like the Yakima FrontLoader is a good option. The wheel clamping system prevents contact with the frame of the bike, and can size up to 29 inches.
Not to be outdone, Thule offers the UpRide which is also a wheel clamping carrier. Made to Thule's usual high standards, it will fit any aero-shaped cross-bar system.
On a Tow Hitch
Much like when you carry your 29er on the roof, if you're carrying one on a tow hitch it is best to use a carrier that clamps the wheel.
The Hold Up Evo 2 is perfect for this. Attaching to your 50mm hitch receiver, you can mount two bikes onto the carrier up to a total of 46kgs. If you need to add more bikes you can add the Hold Up Evo +2. This will give you a 4-bike carrier when they are combined.
We can also offer a 5-bike carrier if 4 isn't enough. The VBR5 is a vertical carrier from Rola that allows for up to 5 bikes, including 29ers to be carried into your 50mm hitch receiver.
